Small Format Landscape Painting and Drawing

Instructor: Kathleen Jacobs
Working outdoors, students will investigate, record and hone their observational skills under the instruction of Kathleen Jacobs. Working intuitively to explore and consider line, form and the distinctive colors that exist in this beautiful part of the world, students will take simple hikes to the riverbanks, ponds, meadows and countryside of historic Concord. Small sketches will help students to understand a simplified sense of space and compositional structure - without overanalyzing every detail. This workshop will put an emphasis on drawing form and structure to seek a certain compositional grace and order from nature. Working small, participants will draw and paint quickly. This workshop Includes a slide talk about landscape paintings.
