Painting the Still Life/Interior

This intermediate/advanced workshop explores painting the still life/interior. We work on two or three paintings throughout the weekend. Paintings are constructed through additive and subtractive processes such as layering, scraping, and mark making. Through experimentation with materials and techniques, students reflect on and determine how much information is needed. The importance of drawing is emphasized throughout the workshop. We refer to master paintings and the varying processes they have utilized. Students are encouraged to bring in their own meaningful still life objects. Class size limited to 10.
