ONLINE CLASS: Serial: The Artist's Practice

Through guided exercises and prompts, we'll learn to focus our vision as artists by working in a series. Nonrepresentational imagery will be our means to exploring painting, drawing and printing techniques. We'll create several series of related works on paper while learning how to quiet the inner judge by placing our focus on process, not product.

MATERIALS

18" x 24" pad of white drawing paper

8" x 10" gel plate

4" soft rubber brayer

small, medium and large brushes including 1 Sumi brush and 1 two inch foam brush

roll of Freezer Wrap OR palette paper

spray bottle for water

paper towels

set of acrylic paints including the following fluid viscosity colors:

• light yellow
• medium yellow
• ultramarine blue
• phthalo blue
• magenta
• light red
• black
• titanium white

jar of OPEN Gel Medium Gloss (OPEN is very important. This is to slow the drying time for your acrylics)

Elmer's glue or acrylic soft gel matte medium (adhesive)

blue painter's tape

set of pastels (oil or chalk)

Sharpie pen

scissors

Xacto blade
