This class explores the linkages between drawing and painting. The drawing time is focused on three skills which directly impact painting and reward continued practice: gesture, contour and straight lines. Through these, we will explore composition, proportion, shape, value, space and mark-making as they apply to painting in oil or acrylic. Paintings will be of varying duration and the focus will always be on getting the big things right before getting seduced by detail and on correct color and value rather than on “effects.” The class benefits from including people at all levels of experience.
(There will be 3 or 4 classes with a model requiring an additional fee split among the class and paid directly to the instructor.)
