In my experience, painting in the open air is a direct and efficient path to the confrontation and embrace of core joys, challenges, contradictions of painting.  The idea of “seeing” is exponentially exciting and fluid in itself, but when the act of translating that experience to a flat surface…with paint…Pandora’s box.  I will share influences, personal motivations, and questions that arise during this process of “Seeing and Simplifying in a Charged Landscape”.
