Draw and Quick Paint (Figure in Space & Still Life)
Medium: Charcoal, Oil and Acrylics

Divided into sections of drawing and painting, this class will approach the figure no differently than approaching a still life. The drawing time is focused on the practice of three skills which directly impact painting and reward continued practice: gesture, contour and straight lines. Through these, we will understand why people say that “drawing is about seeing,” as we explore composition, proportion, shape, value, space and mark-making as they apply to painting in oil or acrylic. Paintings will be done faster than you may be used to in order to focus on underlying structure, color and value relationships rather than on detail and “effects.” This class benefits from including people at all levels of experience. Each class is followed up with a summary of the lessons learned and images of the work done. There will be an additional model fee paid directly to the instructor.
