During this workshop, we will delve into monotype printmaking with Akua Intaglio Inks. They are particularly well suited for exploring optical mixes of subtle layers of color and ink manipulation. We will be printing on transparent plastic PETG plates which are thin enough to print well either face up or face down for easy registration and printing multiple-color plates. We will print with subtractive techniques, then add washes and drawn lines onto the plate with Akua Ink modifiers. We will practice mixing beautiful neutral grays and earth tones to gain control and confidence for printing with color. Joyce will convey concepts of viscosity printing techniques to generate spontaneous ink resists and color interactions. She will demonstrate how to arrive at a rich variety of mark-making, and how to work toward and preserve the creation of space and light in your monotypes.
