Description
Printmaking with Kate Hanlon - Let's Make Monotypes!
All Levels
Medium: Monotype Printmaking
Instructor: Kate Hanlon
Known as "the painterly print", monotype is the simplest form of printmaking, with a rich history that has attracted artists from the 17th century through today, and there are as many ways of making monotypes as there are artists who make them! Participants will become familiar and comfortable with our new etching press while learning a few simple monoprint techniques. We'll work both additively and reductively, rolling or painting ink onto a plexiglass plate, then drawing into or wiping away image areas to create elegantly expressive, unique prints.
Established printmaker Kate Hanlon will teach this two-day monotype workshop to introduce our new printmaking studio at Concord Art. Equipped with a 24x48 in. Takach printing press, we are happy to expand our education offerings to our wonderful artist community and add classes and workshops in printmaking to our program.
Please note: printmaking workshops are limited to 5 students!
