Can Plein Air Painting be Abstract?

Instructor: Charles Shurcliff
In this workshop Charlie Shurcliff will introduce new approaches to plein air painting! Working with the landscape in and around Concord, students will work from nature trying to open up their perception to abstraction. Starting with quick landscape studies, students will ignore the meaning and identity of the elements and instead incorporate visual elements, shapes, gestures and colors in simplified ways. Based on demonstrations and individual instructions, Charlie will guide you to stress relationships and assist you with tackling subjects in your own preferred way.
