MASTER WORKSHOP: Taking it Up a Notch - with Emily Eveleth
All Levels
Medium: Oil
Instructor: Emily Eveleth
In this workshop let’s jump right in and take it up a notch. Working primarily from observation, we’ll take what’s in front of us and find new ways of making a powerful image. Using all the visual tools at our finger tips, composition, line, color, thick luscious paint, this will be a chance to discover what otherwise might remain unarticulated; nascent forms, seductive rich color, unexpected desires and the subtle mysteries of presentation. These three days are both a continuation and expansion of the April workshop at Concord Art and a great chance for others to join in and explore new ways of working. We’ll do a variety of exercises and make fast, unfinished works, where we explore the effects of lighting, placement, tonality and form. Through it all we discuss and consider historical and contemporary approaches to presentation from Manet to Michael Borremans, Caravaggio to Kerry James Marshall.
