This class led by Cathy Karp will introduce students to methods and materials for image transfers. Using found images and re-appropriating pictures can be fun, leading to all sorts of new discoveries and inspirations, no matter what medium students are used to working in. Cathy will review copyright and fair-use issues, as well as ways to transform an image and incorporate it into the students’ artwork. Throughout this class, several transfer techniques will be taught for both black and white and color images. The work of numerous mixed media artists will be used as examples and inspiration for this innovative class. (This class will include a material fee directly paid to the instructor)
