Description
MASTER WORKSHOP: Getting a Grip on the Life Studio as Painted Space
All Levels
Medium: Acrylic, Collage and Drawing
Instructor: Stuart Shils
This master workshop by Stuart Shils is a three-day studio intensive with an intentional focus on pictorial structure, composition and color. The workshop will be conducted in acrylics with considerable emphasis on drawing, pursued with cut paper collage, crayons and graphite. Two days are devoted to working from the model and one day to using reproductions of old and modern masters to investigate interpretively how painters have constructed and organized painted space. But we are not talking about copying! This is painting from our own points of view. For both chapters of the class the concentration will be on close observation, improvisational shorthand and editorial intervention to establish perceptual hierarchy.
