Exploring Surrealism/Automatism: A Dialogue with Your Painting

Automatism is a technique that uses free association and gave the Surrealists the means to produce unconscious or unplanned artwork. In this workshop, we will explore this practice, allowing for the paint to have a more active role in the development of the art. This technique is very enjoyable and liberating in many ways, particularly for those artists, of all levels, who may be going through an artist block and/or are looking for new ways to explore the act of painting. This technique can be used to produce figurative or abstract art, therefore it does not restrict the artist’s personal style.
