Students will choose one subject to focus on for the full five days. You will experiment with layering approaches and hone your watercolor skills. You’ll learn to develop a strategy that works for you for how to make color and design decisions to create a vibrant image. Lectures and demonstrations will address layering sequences, color placement and wet-into-wet and wash techniques. Your chosen subject could be a singular idea or any combination of figurative, abstract, floral, nature, landscape or narrative subjects. Choose from these two approaches: 1. Spend the five days working on one painting on a full or half sheet and create accompanying research sketches to explore color choices and approaches. You’ll learn the mechanics and technical aspects of working on a larger size paper. 2. Alternatively, you may choose a theme and generate several smaller works that explore different variations and approaches to the theme.
