As artists our sense of the world is informed by the art we make. In this class, intermediate and advanced students will work from observation to simplify and then extract the essential form. Students will choose their own subject matter and bring artwork or reproductions that reflect ideas of personal interest. Working quickly and in series, each individual’s perception will become apparent. We will start with drawing and move into open media. This may include painting, collage, pastel, watercolor, acrylic – according to individual choice. Discussion of how other artists developed their own language will be addressed.
