In this workshop we are going to recreate the experience of an other-worldly apprenticeship. We are going to immerse ourselves in the techniques of a living master by transforming Concord Art’s classroom into a Norwegian Studio on the North Sea. My apprenticeship with Odd Nerdrum forever changed my painting methods and my life and for one weekend, I’d like to recreate that experience with you. In this workshop you will learn how to confidently apply sanding, layering, and glazing techniques (along with a host of other advanced paint handling methods). You will learn an old master recipe for preparing your canvases (which gives you a working surface like nothing you’ve ever seen). And we will tackle a new approach to painting from life while working with a live model. Let’s explore the ‘old’ ways… in a new light. This class will include a model fee directly paid to the instructor.
