White Line Woodblock Printmaking
White line woodblock, a uniquely American form of printmaking, was developed in Provincetown, Massachusetts in the early 1900s. This low-tech, nontoxic and fun method produces beautiful multicolored prints from a single block with just a few simple tools, and no need for a press. Kate Hanlon, who has over 20 years experience in the medium, will take the audience through the process of creating a print, from design to execution. She will also demonstrate some alternative ways of printing the same block, to achieve creatively varied results. Kate's work may be found in many public and private collections.
