Introduction To Impressionist Color and Painting: Acrylic or Oil
All Levels
Marcia Wise
This workshops is designed to introduce students to a bold and fearless approach to using color. We will cover fundamental painting and drawing skills with an introduction to the Impressionist color theory utilizing simple block studies. Students will learn how to simplify scenes into shapes of color-values, beginning with block studies and then integrating simple rounded objects as we move toward creating landscape paintings. We will use brushes for the first layer, then the palette knife for subsequent layers. We use the palette knife so we can think only in terms of color and placement thus eradicating the need to pay attention to details. Students will take part in critiques each day, often at the end of a painting session after applying a color note (layer). All levels of experience are welcome.
