Yupo is a tree-free, plastic-based paper that can be used to create interesting and vibrant, colorful effects. In this demo, we will explore a variety of techniques for creating beautiful, dynamic images using watercolors on Yupo. Unlike traditional watercolor paper, Yupo is not absorbent. The wet paint slowly evaporates and in the process, pigments interact andunpredictable, “happy accidents” abound. It’s a delightful environment for beginning and experienced artists to explore. Gwen Chasan is a watercolor and acrylics artist who has been working with Yupo for 3 years. She will demonstrate a variety of effects using salt, alcohol, inks, and lifting and replacing color.
