Summer Plein Air Workshop at River Road Farm, Carlisle

Come to a New England farm setting with fields, ponds, wooded areas, stonewalls, fences and animals. This workshop will emphasize individual critiques as well as demonstrations and the selection of subject matter, while encouraging each student’s talent and creativity. Individual instruction will allow the student to express new ideas confidently and spontaneously. Maris will teach color mixing as well as different brushwork techniques to create mass, line, texture and atmosphere. He will also demonstrate how to do a value study using the actual canvas for a full size “thumbnail sketch.” Outdoor painting equipment is required, as well as a box lunch. Some light refreshments will be provided. The workshop will meet at Concord Art on the morning of the first day and we will ride to the River Road Farm together. In case of inclement weather, the class will take place at Concord Art.
