Introduction to Oil Painting II

In this class, students explore the materiality of oil paint and painting tools while developing stronger observational skills. Each student is expected to develop a series of paintings outside of class. This series allows students to create work that is personally relevant and open to abstract or observational approaches. Playfulness and experimentation will be encouraged along with technique. This class continues instruction begun in the fall 2015 class, Introduction to Oil Painting. New students should be familiar with the basics of using their materials, mixing color, and painting from a simple still-life.
